The fantasy genre has some great titles within it, but ultimately there is so much more potential fun to be had with big-screen adaptations. Fantasy films often struggle because they need to work so hard to create a new world. They usually only exist when there is a guaranteed fanbase who would be ready to view the product. This would be a sure-fire guarantee with this property as many people are aware of the brand and its legacy.
Also, whilst the setting can be darker (like in Twilight Princess) it ultimately gives off an upbeat tone. Even when dealing with deadly serious matters the bright visuals and adventurous antics of Link make the land of Hyrule seem fun and charming. This is something that would be great on the big screen as an adventure film which focusses on viewer enjoyment.
The land of Hyrule could easily attract viewers of a wide age range. Its universal appeal is complemented by the fact that it would have a unique place in the fantasy genre.
A story that purely focusses on exploration and adventure would not only be in keeping with the source materials spirit but would make a film with a strong presence in the market.
