10 Video Game Movies You Won't Believe Are In Development

Uncharted has been a massive success for Naughty Dog and Sony. First appearing on PS3 back in 2007, the action-adventure games released to wide acclaim and became a core Sony franchise, last appearing in 2017 on PS4.

It plays like an interactive action movie, so Sony’s decision to pursue a film adaptation was hardly surprising but its had a troubled development since 2008.

Initially under producer Avi Arad, it got passed onto seven different directors and has undergone multiple script rewrites.

It’s a classic case of an adaptation stuck in development hell and we’ve even seen a 15 minute fan film starring Nathan Fillion released in the meantime.

Now in the hands of director Ruben Fleischer, it finally appears to be on track for release, with shooting confirmed to begin in three weeks.

Acting as a prequel to the games with Tom Holland starring as Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as Victor “Sully” Sullivan, Sony have confirmed a new release date of March 5th 2021 and it looks set to finally see the light of day.
