10 Video Game NPCs Nobody Wanted To Kill (But You HAD To)
6. Astrid (The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim)
Battling dragons and monsters is cool, but donning a dark outfit and assassinating folks is a thrill unto itself. That's what makes Skyrim's Dark Brotherhood questline so special.
Guiding your hand throughout this epic adventure is the impeccable Astrid, leader of the assassination guild. She's cool, strong, brash, and dangerous; all great traits in an assassin.
Of course, she does sell you out towards the end, but what's a little treachery among friends?
Tragically, Astrid's misguided betrayal inadvertently dooms the whole organization. Her actions lead to Commander Maro launching an attack on the Falkreath Sanctuary, killing most characters and burning Astrid within an inch of her life. Upon finding her, she requests that you perform The Black Sacrament on her, ending her life and taking her place as leader.
This tragic kill makes the list on two levels. For one, taking Astrid's life upon seeing her charred body is a mercy kill if ever you've seen one. However, on top of that, killing her is also essential for continuing the Dark Brotherhood storyline.
She has to die, and you've got to be the one to do it.
