7. Rodin - Bayonetta

Action titles such as the Bayonetta games tend to have hubs to briefly rest in in-between battles. Places to heal, buy new items, unlock weapons and such. In this particular series, that place is the Gates of Hell, a rather stylish bar.

The proprietor of that bar is none other than Rodin, an exiled demon who has taken on a form not unlike that of Blade. Rodin descends into the depths of Inferno itself to nab Bayonetta whichever weapon she’s unlocked (generally after finding the appropriate LP), emerging moments later covered in all manner of viscera and unpleasantness.

Players don’t tend to see him in action, but it’s heavily implied that he’s very, very powerful indeed. In Bayonetta 2, he briefly fights at the Umbra Witch’s side, utilizing powers similar to her own and ruthlessly pummelling foes into submission.

He makes a couple of appearances in the series as an optional boss, and is an absolute powerhouse to be reckoned with when he does. Getting high scores in these encounters is a real challenge for series aficionados.
