10 Video Game Openings Designed To Make You Quit

8. Persona 5

Executing a daring escape from a Casino while Your Life Will Change plays in the background is exhilarating and fun to watch thanks to the bright colours, style and flashy animations.

Yet, just like the protagonist with the Japanese police-force, the game’s momentum comes to a halt as it handcuffs you and forces you to sit through overly-long dialogue exchanges that are implemented to establish the cast of colourful characters and story.

Indeed, Persona 4: Golden opened with hours of conversations to sit through too, but the dialogue from the crooked-mouthed teacher alone was wittier and more enjoyable than all of Ryuji’s repetitious curses about the gym instructor. Golden also didn’t have a freeloading and suffocating mascot who acts as your probation officer either, ordering you to go to sleep rather than have fun or play the game.

Naturally, Persona 5 gets better when you are able to explore the first Palace and town at your own leisure and instructions become rare. However, it takes way too long for this to happen, and the more impatient gamers are understandably not going to wait five-hours for a title to become good.
