10 Video Game Power-Ups That Got You Killed

8. Cloak Of Darkness - Wizards & Warriors

Before Donkey Kong Country and GoldenEye 007, Rare made a neat NES platformer called Wizards & Warriors. As you navigate around forests, caves, and castles, you'll have to face a myriad of demons, warlocks, and monsters.

Fortunately, there are plenty of power-ups to assist you on your quest. Pink Potions let you jump higher. The Egg Bomb destroys all on-screen enemies at once. The Alarm Clock freezes time, allowing you to stroll past baddies with ease.

However, the Cloak of Darkness is the game's most well-known upgrade (but for all the wrong reasons). This robe seems handy at first, since it'll render the wearer invisible.

Unfortunately, the player won't be able to see our hero either! While this garment is activated, you'll have to guess where you are positioned while jumping from platform to platform, making it very likely you'll plummet to your death.

Do you know what the worst thing is? Wearing this cloak doesn't stop enemies from homing in on you! If that's the case, what's the point in wearing it? Even though you will receive less damage while the cloak is active, it's not worth it in the long run.
