10 Video Game Power-Ups That Got You Killed

6. Crusader - Final Fantasy VI

Throughout Final Fantasy VI, your party will regularly obtain Magicite - enchanted elements which allow you to summon Esper monsters in battle. One of the most powerful Espers is Crusader - a trio of beasts that unleash an unblockable attack on the enemy. Because Crusader's assault is so destructive, you'd expect the player to use it any time a fight isn't going their way.

But there's a bit of a snag. Crusader's onslaught does devastating damage to everyone on-screen... including you. Even though it's likely their attack will defeat your enemies, you'll probably be looking at the Game Over screen immediately after.

Now, to avoid this dilemma should be pretty simple. If you don't assign Crusader to your group, there should be no problem, right?

But if you use an anonymous Magicite, you will summon an Esper at random. So, if Crusader is the one that's chosen, it's bad luck for you.

However, you can avoid this fate by using Reraise on your party, which will resurrect them immediately after they die. But rather than going through this rigmarole, it would be easier to choose another Esper that DOESN'T kill you!
