10 Video Game Pranks You Wish Were True
7. Pokémon Kart
This is one classic example of someone who wasn't a video game developer, but still wanted to trick a few unsuspecting Pokémon fans. This trailer first appeared at least 10 years ago and it's a real shame it never came to fruition.
One avid gamer and video animator, at the request of someone else, created a video promoting Pokémon Kart Wii, a play on the popular Mario racing game for the same console. While the video is now dated, back then it managed to convince more than a few people the project was real.
It begins with Ash casually walking up to a racing track and releasing Pikachu, who proceeds to compete against a Bulbasaur. Again, the video doesn't hold a candle to today's trailers, and at times it lags but, as you could have easily guessed, it was no more than an April Fool's day joke.
Still, given the immense popularity of the Pokémon franchise and how well Mario Kart did, both critically and commercially, it would seem Nintendo is missing a trick by not creating such a video game.
