TV and film-licenced games have a spotty history at best, but the excellent South Park: The Stick of Truth, which arrived on home consoles in March 2014, was an exception to the general rule.

Designed as a turn-based RPGs whilst stubbornly remaining loyal to the show’s 2D visuals, The Stick of Truth and The Fractured But Whole both served as excellent introductions to the setting and characters while also providing a barrage of fan service to those who have stuck by the show through its over twenty year air time.

The Fractured But Whole was officially unveiled at E3 2015 and looked to continue the chaos, this time mimicking and satirising the media and public’s infatuation with superheroes.

To those of us daft enough to have not jumped into the South Park boys’ hilarious re-imagining of Tolkien-esque lore, the first game was available to download immediately upon digitally pre-ordering its superhero-inspired counterpart.

While it’s a common occurrence that games are bundled alongside previous entries in the series, the decision to grant players an entire new adventure to complement their latest purchase was quite the worthwhile preorder.
