10 Video Game Problems That Piss EVERYONE Off
7. Overpriced Microtransactions For Quality Of Life Items
Microtransactions have come a long way since The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion's infamous horse armor. Most publishers have found a comfortable middle ground where progress is expedited, not hindered, by the inclusion of microtransactions.
Many people would rather shell out another couple bucks if it saves them a couple hours of grinding. And with live service games becoming increasingly popular, microtransactions are the only reason we aren't spending hundreds of dollars on subscriptions every month.
But that just makes it all the more aggravating that there are still publishers trying to wring every penny out of us by locking important quality of life items behind a microtransaction or subscription.
Do you really NEED a bottomless crafting materials bag to play The Elder Scrolls Online? Absolutely not, if you don't mind managing your inventory every three minutes. You're essentially being charged for the game itself, then charged again for the privilege of actually enjoying yourself.
It's extortion and we will... continue to tolerate it because we want to play our games.
Darn it.
