10 Video Game Products That Insulted Their Key Audience
8. Wii Remote Jacket
Nintendo's prototype console dubbed the 'Revolution' promised a fresh, exciting way to play video games, as motion controls were sure to be the way of the future. Releasing as the 'Nintendo Wii' in 2006, families flocked to stored to grab a system to install at home, only for it to be forgotten about 2 weeks later.
However, in the height of its popularity, numerous videos emerged online of, frankly, dimwitted people accidentally throwing the systems controller through their TV screen. Nintendo took the issue very seriously, and insisted that the remote must be strapped to the players wrist before playing the majority of the games on offer.
What wasn't necessary, however, was the introduction of a silicone jacket that covers the controller, further preventing similar accidents. The strap was enough, and those who didn't bolt themselves in before booting up Mario Galaxy need only look to themselves for the blame of destroying the family's third TV in a week.
The Wii remote cover is a waste of material, and is akin to recommending everyone to wear a bib before eating soup. Some people have common sense, and some needed the Wii remote jacket to ensure their house remains in tact.
