10 Video Game Puzzles NOBODY Figured Out

3. ...Pretty Much Everything - Shadow Of The Beast II

In the hands of a master, you can complete Shadow of the Beast II in under 30 minutes. But the road to mastering this platformer is long, treacherous, and deeply unfair.

In the beginning, you’ll come across two levers. By pulling one, the elevator will lower, allowing you to continue. By pulling the other, you’ll fall to your death.

So, if you pull the wrong lever, you can just try the other one next time, right?

Unfortunately, the correct lever is randomized. To avoid perishing at this point upon every playthrough, you need to ask a random character which lever is safe. But since every NPC is programmed with tons of responses, you can be there forever, trying to make him say something informative.

Another moment of great contention is the bridge monster. As soon as this beast lumbers towards you, you'll instinctively attack him until he dies. If you do that, congratulations. You just lost the game!

You were supposed to lure this monster towards you, until his weight caused the bridge to cave in. By jumping into the hole, you can continue in your journey. Since there's no way you can know this, first-time players will slay this creature, killing their progress.

Then, there's that infernal snail. This overgrown mollusc stops you dead unless you give him 36 coins (which happens to be every coin in the game). Because it's never implied that currency is important, you'll probably won't have enough cash.

If you thought you can backtrack and collect the money, Mr. Snail doesn't give you the option. If you are one coin short, you can't go any further.

As ludicrous as these "puzzles" are, what makes them more infuriating is how the game doesn't tell you how to solve them until AFTER it's too late to do so!
