10 Video Game Remakes Fans Won’t Allow

1. Chrono Trigger

Some games don't need remakes because they're already as good as they can be. Some are best left alone to prevent ruining them. Others might benefit from a remake but the developer has moved on and can no longer be trusted to do a great job - remarkably, Chrono Trigger probably falls into all of these categories.

Chrono Trigger is one of the best games of all time; a quick Google search will tell you that. It's beautifully designed; the story is exciting and unique; the characters are memorable; and the gameplay is massively addictive. It's also available in several places; originally released on the SNES, the game has since been ported to the PlayStation, the Wii's Virtual Console and the Nintendo DS. It's also available on mobile devices, so it's not as if it's hard to come across.

Plus, it's a game that doesn't need remaking at all. The character designs may look familiar to you; that's because they were created by Akira Toriyama who was also responsible for the Dragon Ball series. As a result, the game has a wonderfully unique look that still looks great today; it's bright, it's colourful and it has aged gracefully. Rest assured, Chrono Trigger is every bit as playable as it was back in 1995.

Also, and this might sound harsh, it's hard to trust Square Enix to develop a remake worthy of the original. As a company, they've made a noticeable shift towards action-orientated games and even their premiere series, Final Fantasy, has become a mixed bag. That's not to say that a Chrono Trigger remake is guaranteed to be awful... but let's just play it safe and leave it alone, yeah?

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
