10 Video Game Remakes We NEED On Next-Generation Consoles
2. Dark Cloud
Dark Cloud is a genuinely original game. It shouldn’t have worked. A mix of dungeon crawling similar to early Elder Scrolls games with the town building akin to Simcity, it worked and then some. It is a shining example of how multiple genres can be mixed perfectly.
The games unique blend of gameplay has attempted to be emulated many times since its release, but none have quite lived up to their predecessor. It was a very impressive game considering its time, but being on this list, it’s pretty dated now. Creating this game from the ground up for next gen consoles, the scale and scope could be expanded massively.
Leave the cramped, lifeless corridors of the dungeons for much more detailed, varied and expansive spaces filled with things to see and do. Allow the player a huge array of customization over how they build their settlement. Update the combat to modern day standards.
The concept for this game is what made it so great, so just taking those separate aspects and improving upon them would make the perfect remake.
The game may have went on to gain one sequel a few years later but since then it’s been dead. A whole generation have grew up not knowing what Dark Cloud is, so a whole generation is waiting to fall in love with this hidden gem.
