10 Video Game Remasters That Were Utter Failures

1. Modern Warfare Remastered

When it comes to how this remaster was handled, it goes against EVERYTHING that you should expect from a game with this defining aspect.

First the good, I love this game. The campaign still sits as one of the all time series highs for me, and seeing it here with gloriously updated graphics, with technical tweaks and updated sound and lighting effects was truly glorious. The multiplayer map selection was on point and it was honestly refreshing to drop all the silly !*$% that the series was trying elsewhere.

And yet.

How insulting was it to be told at first that this remaster would only be bundled with Infinite Warfare's special editions, only for it to drop a month later as a standalone? This scare tactic made people panic buy a more expensive version of an altogether inferior game.

Then we had the micro transactions, oh the bloody micro transactions which were added in AFTER reviews came out so as to avoid a public scathing. And to add another knife to the back, this "remaster" didn't come with the DLC map packs which so many other compilation titles do and had the gall to charge players for this further down the line.

This was a brilliant experience, until Activision changed it from being a celebration of the past, to a horrendous milking of nostalgia driven wallets. Boo.
