10 Video Game Remasters That Were Utter Failures

9. Silent Hill HD Collection

Modern Warfare Remastered
Konami

One of the most disappointing things about this stellar horror franchise is just how Konami has repeatedly botched it’s handling. We all know about the horror show that was P.T and Kojima's departure, of the radio silence on the franchise, of the bloody pachinko machines, but what’s arguably even worse is when they try to do something nice, but it goes completely belly up.

Such is the case of the Silent Hill HD Collection which is hands down WORSE to play on than the originals in every regard. Outside of some UI sprucing and text sharpening, which is the least you can hope for in HD remasters, the titles within have been less touched up and more scraped apart than anything.

Models remain un-smoothed, cut scenes haven’t had any work done to them so the aspect ratio goes to hell when transitioning between them and gameplay, and to make matters worse, the FOG has gone.

Yes the infamous fog which was originally a clever way of masking technical limitations of the hardware, is gone. Replaced instead with a mist which can easily be seen through destroying the claustrophobic atmosphere as you see level textures meet with ugly joins. At least Silent Hill 3 fairs better but for 2? It’s a genuine disappointment.
