10 Video Game Remasters That Were Utter Failures

8. Turtles In Time: ReShelled

Modern Warfare Remastered
Ubisoft

In theory a perfect remaster should be one that doesn’t just celebrate what was awesome about the original, but one that fixes the mistakes, irons out the bugs and brings the lowest points in line with the rest of the experience.

Turtles in Time: Reshelled TRIES to do this but comes off worse as a result, by attempting to fix a problem that many really didn’t think was one. By moving the game from 2D to 3D we were given a sizable graphical update, but also the option to attack in multiple directions rather than just a flat horizontal plane. This made gameplay much simpler but unfortunately this highlighted the janky nature of the animations something terrible.

Plus if you’re going to try and use online multiplayer to recreate the arcade heyday vibe of having mates around you playing as your favourite green skinned gut punchers, you probably should make sure your net code is up to par, as for many dropped connections were rife and with no option to join back in instantly, it meant your party would have to quit out and start the game again.

Sometimes less is more. Especially some of those backgrounds, what an eyesore.
