10 Video Game Remasters That Were Utter Failures

5. Doom 3: BFG Edition

While not being everyones favour cup of slayer squash, Doom 3 at least strove to do something different.

Instead of rampaging through hell-scapes like there's a rocket up your ass, spewing out round after round into the faces of daemons big and small to a thumping soundtrack, Doom 3 took to the shadows and attempted to carve out a place for the franchise in the ranks of survival horror shooters.

How it achieved this was through use of light sources and an inability to have your flashlight and weapon out at the same time. True it was a bit of a strange move to think of this trained soldier not being able to multi-task, but there's no denying that the sheer horror your faced as you scrambled for your gun only for the muzzle flash to light up even more enemies approaching.

That was bliss. So why did the BFG Edition change it so that you now had a shoulder mounted torch, leaving you with what is now just an old school shooter minus the tension. For some the game play was enough to carry them through, but for going against the original design it felt like a failure to fans of the original.
