10 Video Game Remasters That Were Utter Failures
4. Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection
It’s always a shame when something doesn’t live up to it’s potential as my parents would know looking at me, but it’s arguably even worse when you consider what the Ezio Collections COULD have been.
This was a chance for Ubisoft to take one of it’s biggest and most popular stars, one of the best games in the franchise, and give it the graphical and technical update to remind people why Assassin's Creed is a franchise to respect.
And while Brotherhood and Revelations benefited slightly from the reworking, for some reason one of the all time greats Assassin's Creed 2 got royally shafted. The reworked lighting and texture effects made colours look lifeless and flat, resulting in some characters looking completely alien with enlarged or unflattering features.
It made the game look uglier than it’s original outing, which wasn’t a great look when you’re slapping on the box that this is the best of the best collection. Another giant misstep was that this was designed for next gen consoles and yet couldn’t run at more than 30 fps, meaning there was little reason to pick up the games at this hefty price when you could get the originals for a fraction.
Oh and no one really wanted to collect those feathers again.
