10 Video Game Remasters That Were Utter Failures

3. Warcraft III: Reforged

Modern Warfare Remastered
Blizzard

Despite how it handles itself in the public eye nowadays, there’s no doubt that Blizzard Entertainment know how to kick out a quality title or ten. From the almighty Diablo titles, to the goliath that is Overwatch and of course the magnificently enduring World of Warcraft, almost everything they touch turns to gold which line their gilded pockets.

So why the hell was Warcraft III: Reforged so utterly terrible? The marketing promised not just a game with an updated aesthetic but one that fixed every single issue in the first game and then some.

But when this dropped in January 2020, fans were left spitting as the animations were less fluid than a dried out river bed, and held enough bugs for every review outlet to call the exterminators. Not helping matters was the fact that many decisions based around the UI actually made the game HARDER to play, resulting in the brilliant base game being mired thanks to all the added on fluff.

And to mark what a disaster this was, a patch for this game auto updated everyone who owned the original meaning that you literally couldn’t stop Blizzard from giving you and inferior edition. Cheers.
