10 Video Game Reveal Trailers Better Than The Final Release
7. The Order: 1886
The biggest mistake that The Order: 1886 made was wasting the selling point that its early trailers were entirely built around. Hyping up a story surrounding a band of soldiers hunting down supernatural creatures, actual human vs. monster combat is barely touched upon in the game itself.
There are still supernatural beings to face off against, but battles with them are few and far between, and most of the title is spent shooting at faceless goons who could have just been copied and pasted out of any other third-person shooter.
Such an atmospheric goth-Victorian world demanded an equally surreal story and gameplay focus, yet The Order settled for bog-standard cover-shooting instead. Likewise, when the supernatural enemies did show up, fights with them never got better than the werewolf encounter shown off in this trailer, with the rest of the battles boiling down to the same repeated tactics without any of the cinematic flair.
The Order teased such a vibrant and interesting world, yet for some reason refused put the elements people cared about at the forefront of its game.
