10 Video Game Reveal Trailers Better Than The Final Release
5. Fuse
The original trailer for Fuse - then titled Overstrike - was exactly the type of third-person shooter you'd expect to see from Insomniac Games.
Colourful, chaotic and full of personality, the team-based action game revelled in the unique abilities of its core group of heroes, adopting a cartoon aesthetic that was only really being championed by the likes of Borderlands at the time.
However, when EA decided that third-person shooters could only succeed if they copied Gears of War and were smeared in grey and brown, the title was later rebranded as Fuse, a by-the-numbers and "serious" action game that threw out all of the elements that made the original Overstrike so memorable.
Gutted of its personality and even stripped of its unique power-based combat system in favour of straight-up tactical shooting, the game which previously boasted so much character looked about as soulless and as uninspired as you'd expect from a product created by a committee of marketers rather than a team of creatives.
