10 Video Game Rewards That Were Profoundly Insulting

2. A Friendly Nod Of Approval - The Legend Of Zelda: Link's Awakening (2019)

Nintendo's 2019 remaster of the original GameBoy classic, The Legend Of Zelda: Link's Awakening, was widely well received by critics and fans alike. It added vibrant new graphics - a welcome addition considering the best it had before was the severely limited palette of the GameBoy Color. But it mostly stayed very true to the original game, a great but lesser-known title, especially among the young Zelda fans of today.

And this nearly one-to-one fidelity even included a new version of the original's secret ending. There's completing the game normally, which results with Link waking up and wondering if it was all just a dream. But if you complete Awakening without dying once, you unlock a secret ending where Zelda stand-in Marin smiles politely in the sky.

OK, it's heavily implied that the whole thing wasn't a dream, and Marin - whose only desire was to leave the game's island setting - got her wish. Which is a nice interpretation, but, deep in your heart, do you care enough to through the trouble just for that?

Honestly it's a much better reward for the fictional character than for us.
