10 Video Game Sequel Baits That Went Nowhere
3. Eve - Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood
On the one hand, almost every entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise is a great game to turn your brain off to and just enjoy scaling architecture and making stealthy kills. However, the series also has a complex lore that rewards players who are looking for something to invest their minds into.
Uh, sort of.
As the franchise went along and got bloated fast, it seemed that Ubisoft trimmed the fat as it went along. Case in point, Subject 16’s first appearance.
Subject 16 was a character introduced in Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood who, like Desmond, was part of the Animus project. Upon his discovery that he was related to Adam and Eve (yes, the actual Adam and Eve), he demands that Desmond “find Eve”, implying her existence has major implications on the series’ future.
However, in the follow-up game Revelations, meeting Eve is swapped out for the Apple of Eden; an object rather than a person and we all just pretend that that’s what he said.
Ultimately, you can argue that they just swapped one goal out for another but it's a pretty big change. Considering that Eve is an actual character, first shown in AC2 and mentioned in several entries after, she must still be out there and part of the lore.
Who knows if we’ll ever find Eve?
