10 Video Game Sequels Better Than The Original
7. The Witcher 2: Assassin's Of Kings
The original Witcher game feels a lot like the books, for those of you that have read them. Mature, masterful story that doesn't hold your hand, masses of lore to explore, and creative open-world full of monsters – where some look more human than others - but a bit of a struggle to get through.
The outdated graphics aside, it was the combat system that made the game such a chore, as well as the wooden voice-over work that would send you to sleep.
Meanwhile, the opening cinematic alone stunned the gaming world, as gorgeously rendered graphics showed a rival Witcher assassinate a King's guard single-handedly before lopping his head off. This then pans to the opening gameplay, where Geralt, looking more like the rugged, sleek, monster hunter we know and love, steps out onto a wooden trellis alongside King Foltest, as they overlook an ongoing castle siege.
The player then takes control as they take part in said siege, before beginning the main adventure. The world size is larger, the voice-overs more engaging, and the game more colourful and appetising, without losing the dark lore behind it.
