10 Video Game Sequels That Fixed NOTHING

1. Bioshock 2

Bioshock 2 was not a bad game, but it's hard to overlook its weak offering when compared to the first. Ranking among the very best games of 2007, Bioshock's hellish underwater city of Rapture was ripe for expansion, its history and lore oozing with detail and philosophical undertones.

Under high expectations and with a healthy three years in development, the end result was a less than satisfying product that made par without rising above the original. So what happened?

Outside of putting you in the shoes of a big daddy and all the gameplay tweaks that brought, what does Bioshock 2 do to set itself apart?

Not a whole lot, and when compared with the superior original, it struggles to move things forward and does just about everything weaker. The story and characters aren't as memorable, its gameplay is rather samey and the levels are far too linear, funnelling players and set-pieces and limiting their options for exploration.

The multiplayer was also little more than a novelty, falling short of the competition and taking resources from the main campaign. Players certainly seemed to notice, as the game fell short of sales expectations, causing 2K to take the third entry elsewhere with Bioshock Infinite.
