10 Video Game Sequels That Fixed NOTHING

3. Dead Rising 4

Tomb raider shadow of darkness

To broaden their reach into the zombie sub-genre, Capcom's Dead Rising stood out from other titles. However, since the original launched in 2006, the underrated franchise has slowly inched away from what made it unique.

The time limits have been phased out, the choices of weaponry narrowed and the comedic elements put off to the side. Dead Rising 3 was already going in the wrong direction in 2013, looking to appeal to Call of Duty players with its muted colour palette , but it was Dead Rising 4 that took the cake. Fans wanted a return to what made the series work, but 4 showed that those hopes were further away than ever.

While it may have achieved somewhat positive marks from reviewers, fans railed against Dead Rising 4 when it arrived in. Developed by Capcom Vancouver, it claimed to be a return to the series roots, but in reality it was a title that took the surface elements, slapped them on the box and proclaimed to fans that "Frank is back" without following through.

The Christmas setting and added gameplay gimmicks were hardly on improvement and on the whole, it tried to hard to appeal to a wider audience.
