Okay, so we've written previously about the failings of the Jagged Alliance series since - well, since basically everything after 2002. The highwater mark of the series came in 1999 with Jagged Alliance 2 which had a commendable art style and utilized an isometric view along with animated portraits to add some character to the mercenaries you could hire.

And then the franchise changed hands - several times - and wound up getting, not a legitimate sequel, but a reboot in the form of 2012's Back in Action. A graphically upgraded remake of Jagged Alliance 2 there was little one could do to screw it up - you already had a winning formula, a good system, and even a workable source code you could just clean up and improve upon.

Nope - the new developers decided what this reboot needed was to totally scrap the game's original unique art style and replace it with a heaping ladle full of generic lookalike characters with different colored hair, plus hats and sunglasses.

It's one thing to not be an improvement, it's another thing to improve something in such a way that the improvement looks like garbage.
