10 Video Game Sequels That Look WORSE Than What Came Before

2. Devil May Cry 2

Devil May Cry was born of Kamiya Hideki taking too big of a step away from the survival horror cues of Resident Evil and his crew, colloquially referred to as 'Team Little Devils' taking inspiration from Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy. Despite the success of the initial release, the second game in the franchise was handed off to another group within Capcom's development studio and Kamiya wasn't a part of it.

One of the things the new crew decided to utilize was larger, more open levels. This may not have, perhaps, been the worst choice - but in the process of opening up the levels they also made them far less detailed than the original game. Unfortunately when you increase your level by 900% you also need to put 900% more little details into it if you want it to seem roughly the same in quality.

Imagine you have a 10 square meter living room and you expand it into a 90 square meter living room, but you don't buy any more furniture. You just spread what you've got against each wall. Congratulations, now you can walk from the couch to the TV blindfolded without tripping over your coffee table. Safe, perhaps, but very boring.
