10 Video Game Sequels That Played Things Way Too Safe
2. Star Wars Battlefront (2015)
The original Battlefront games are massive sweeping war simulators with an overly generous amount of content. From the vehicles you can pilot to the characters you can play as, there is almost nothing missing from those original titles from Pandemic Studios.
2015's reboot feels like a scrooge by comparison, with DICE merely dipping their toes into the water and feeling out what the reaction would be. It looked and sounded the part, but when it finally came time to actually play the thing fans were less than impressed.
Gone was the epic sense of scale - instead, the game focused on ground-based first-person shooting found in titles such as Battlefield, only without the strategy. Vehicles were now limited to power-ups you had to frantically rush towards to get a chance of using, and battles in space were relegated to DLC and severely limited.
DICE's long-awaited reboot was a fine and detailed Star Wars shooter, but was far too casual for its own good.
