10 Video Game Series Netflix Must Adapt
7. Mass Effect
Mass Effect is an epic sci-fi RPG franchise developed by Bioware, the studio behind Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and the Dragon Age series. The main plot of the series follows the story of Commander Shepard – a graduate of the Systems Alliance military N7 program – and his mission to save the galaxy from an ancient synthetic race (The Reapers), whose sole purpose is to eradicate all organic lifeforms from existence.
While on his mission, Commander Shepard – who is a man or a woman depending on the player’s choice – travels the galaxy via an alien built interstellar travel system, as he attempts to track down the Reapers –engaging in multiple battles and gaining new allies to join the fight along the way.
Although this might seem like the typical premise for a regular Hollywood summer blockbuster, the universe and lore created throughout the game series are on par with anything dreamt up by George Lucas or Gene Roddenberry, meaning that any TV show based on the franchise would not necessarily need to retell the stories from the games, but could instead tell a new original story, while establishing a large universe on par with Battlestar Galactica.
