DC fans love to argue about who's the most diabolical villain in the Batman series. However, anyone who has played an Arkham games knows the answer is always the Riddler. Not because of his body count or his maniacal personality, but simply because he loves to subject the player to the most evil scheme in all of video games: collecting his worthless trophies.

Every time the Riddler makes an appearance in an Arkham game, his missions revolve around collecting his green question marks. There are hundreds of them across the series, and the only thing you get for finding them all is the satisfaction of being able to beat up the guy who hid them all over Gotham in the first place.

However, even when there is a promise of a greater reward, the Riddler finds ways to disappoint. In Arkham Knight, you have to defeat Riddler in order to reach the game's true ending, and this means collecting exactly two hundred and fifty-three Riddler trophies!

And no, before you ask, the true ending isn't worth it. It's just a slightly altered version of the game's regular final cutscene.

It's almost as if the developers enjoyed watching you waste your time on worthless collectibles.
