10 Video Game True Endings That Change EVERYTHING
1. Yuna Reunites With Tidus - Final Fantasy X-2 (2003)
The ending of Final Fantasy X is as shocking as it is heartbreaking, with the main protagonist, Tidus, forced to part ways with Yuna when he fades away back to his own timeline. With such a complex and convoluted plot, you'd expect there to be a way for them for stay together by the end - but nope!
Not in the first game, at least.
By the time of Final Fantasy X-2, set two years later, Yuna is now a member of a travelling group of sphere hunters, the Gullwings. Her journey takes her back to the Farplane, the realm where the living can communicate with those 'sent' there by summoners (like her former self).
While you're here, pressing X at a certain point will cause a member of the fayth to appear. He will ask you if you want to be with Tidus again, and saying 'yes' will give rise to an all-new cutscene.
After the game's normal ending plays, the scene will cut to Tidus alone in the water. Yuna arrives, and the two embrace, finally together again after so long.
There's a further reward for completionists, as achieving 100% grants you another scene of Tidus and Yuna in the ruins of Zanarkand. Their heartfelt conversation is a perfectly bittersweet end to the saga, giving us the resolution to Yuna's story that fans had yearned for since 2001.
