Pre-order bonuses are a common occurrence in the game industry in which players are rewarded with a special in-game item for buying a game early. These bonuses usually come in the form of extra character skins, items, or missions, but Chinese game Age Of Wulin (also known as Age Of Wushu in the US) took this concept to extraordinary heights when the game was still in beta.

On Christmas day 2011, an online auction was held for eager players to buy items they could use when the game launched. Such treasures included enhanced materials and special weapons, all of which were in limited supply and sold from $15 to $2,500. However, the rarest item listed was a sword named the Dragon Slaying Sabre.

Not only did this unique weapon look good, but there was only one of them up for grabs, with one fan snagging this one-of-a-kind piece of DLC for a massive $16,000. Alongside being the only person in the world to wield this snazzy blade in the game, the purchaser was also given a commemorative plaque displaying the weapon.

Even if this sword were ever to be put on sale again, the price would be astronomical.
