The devil Raphael from Baldur's Gate 3 is the reoccurring villain who constantly toys with your character and tries to get them to give up their soul and more in exchange for curing them of the mind-flayer parasite.

Being a soul-hungry hellspawn, Raphael is obviously not very trustworthy, and it's easy to take everything he says with a grain (or rather, a bucketload) of salt.

There is one thing that Raphael tells you that is actually true, though: his warning regarding your supposed ally, the Emperor.

In Act 3 of the game, Raphael tries to convince you to give up a powerful artifact in exchange for a hammer that can break free the githyanki prince that the Emperor uses to keep your party free of the Absolute's influence.

He justifies the exchange by saying a mind-flayer like the Emperor cannot be trusted, and while Raphael obviously has an ulterior motive here, his comments regarding your ally are completely true.

If you decide to dig into the Emperor's past, you can discover he's been manipulating his other "allies" before, and if you confront him about it, he will straight up tell you you're just a pawn in his scheme.

And you thought the devil was bad.
