10 Video Game Villains Who Were Right All Along (And You Hated Them For It)

4. Darkstalker Kaathe - Dark Souls

Most Dark Souls players have very little idea as to what exactly they are doing on their first playthrough. The game doesn't explain much, which is why you base most of your decisions on context clues and which NPC seems the most appealing to side with.

On both of these categories, Darkstalker Kaathe, the dapperly mustachioed serpent who tries to talk you into destroying the world, seems like a bad guy you should avoid at all costs. And yes, while he might look funny, his much nicer counterpart, Kingseeker Frampt, looks identical to him but tells you to save the world instead, so he naturally seems like a much better party to join.

Except Kaathe's despicable goal is actually a far better alternative to the "heroic" deed you're trying to accomplish.

You see, the rekindling of the flame that keeps Lordran alive deteriorates the world's condition with each renewal, which in turn drives all of its inhabitants progressively more insane and miserable.

On the other hand, letting the flame die like Kaathe wants can usher in a new era that will end the cycle of madness and set the tormented souls free.

His request might sound terrible, but Kaathe and his "evil" ending are actually the better choice.
