10 Video Game Villains You Didn't Want To Kill (But Had To)

4. Ketheric Thorm - Baldur's Gate 3

The three main antagonists of Baldur's Gate 3 are by no means good people. After all, you wouldn't really expect the chosen of the gods of tyranny, murder, and necromancy to be walking saints.

However, whereas Orin and Gortash have few redeeming qualities (most of which belonging to the latter half of the duo), Ketheric Thorm, the Chosen of Myrkul, does at least have a good, sympathetic reason to be the way he is.

Throughout the course of Act 2, you learn that Ketheric was a man who could never catch a break in life.

Despite being a devoted servant of Selune, the goddess didn't spare him the grief of suddenly losing his daughter and wife, plunging him into a crisis of faith.

Everything Ketheric has done, from serving two evil gods to agreeing to follow through on Gortash's plans of world dominance, was done to find a way to resurrect his daughter and bring back what the original god took from him after years of loyal service.

Unfortunately, Thorm's grief has taken such a huge toll on him, even if you convince him to atone for his sins, Ketheric will take his own life and make you fight the avatar of his necromantic god, Myrkul.

You can't say you didn't try.
