10 Video Game Weapons You'd Be Crazy To Actually Use

8. Farron Greatsword - Dark Souls 3

There are a lot of weapons in the Dark Souls series that, as soon as you see them, you can't help but want to make them the centrepiece of your arsenal. Sometimes though, a great name, a great look, or a ridiculous damage stat is enough to blind you to the fact that, actually, the weapon itself isn't actually all that good.

The Farron Greatsword is one of these, a blade that's an imitation of those wielded by the Abyss Watchers, primed with some of the most spectacular combat animations in the entire game. Using it looks awesome, as your character twirls and jumps before landing an attack on an enemy, but that fantastical flurry comes at the cost of tactics and the ability to avoid incoming damage.

Because, despite being a greatsword with a huge wind-up animation that leaves you open to counter-attacks, the damage output isn't actually anything to write home about. Consequently, in most cases it becomes a case of players wanting to shove a square into a circle, wanting the weapon to be better than it actually is.
