5. Hitman
Skulking around the shadowy world of the Hitman series has given way to some of gaming's most intense moments, as you size up your mark and prepare to go in for the kill. But while Agent 47 has numerous ways of disposing of his enemies, it's rather incredible to think about strangling some helpless fool with his trademark fiber wire from your own POV, isn't it? We'll let that one sink in for a minute. In games, immersion is key, and by putting you directly into the line of sight that Agent 47 has, you end up creating a much more direct connection with him. So much of what made the original Half-Life exciting was that you never left Gordon Freeman's viewpoint, which made his connection with the player that much stronger. No one can argue that Agent 47's activities are somewhat dubious, so letting the player see it up close and personal could create some interesting internal struggle with the player, granting the Hitman series a deeper layer than ever.
