10 Video Games Better Than The Movie They're Based On

Just before his dismal Daredevil and more than a decade before his polarising Batman, Ben Affleck took his first crack at a major Hollywood character: Jack Ryan. Affleck's outing as the CIA analyst was an oddly plodding feature despite a wild plot involving neo-Nazis using nukes to trigger World War III.

The acclaimed game tie-in provides a lot more action and a lot less talk than its film counterpart. Similar in style to but more simplified than the Rainbow Six series, the player takes control of a counter-terrorist trio for a series of high stakes missions. Everything from suspenseful hostage situations to devastating nuclear war is on show in an effective thriller that appealed to fans and non-fans of Ryan alike.

Customisable features include being able to adopt new strategies for missions and deciding what weaponry your team carry. The ability to control every member at any time keeps the game tense throughout, as does Tom Clancy's plot which ultimately translates better to this game than it did to the film.

Remembered warmly by PC gamers to this day, The Sum Of All Fears leaves us wondering why more games of Mr Ryan haven't been made.
