2. Grand Theft Auto Online Still Lacks Heists
As if the single-player campaign of Grand Theft Auto V wasn't inviting enough, Rockstar raised our expectations even higher with Grand Theft Auto Online, a free multiplayer component that launched on October 1st of last year, two weeks after the game was released. Naturally, Rockstar's servers were immediately pummeled by the player demand, rendering the game pretty much unplayable for about a week, but in the grand scheme of things, this wasn't at all a problem. Even when the game was playable, there just wasn't all that much to do. Robbing convenience stores and murdering other players was fun, but the missions were incredibly repetitive, making leveling up feel less rewarding and more like a chore. What's more, the long-anticipated heist missions did not launch with the game, instead advertised as being patched in at a later date. Still, 8-and-a-half months later, we still don't have heists, and the community size has dropped off considerably as fans have grown fed-up with the lack of a concrete release date for them. Pretty much a week doesn't go by without a rumour that the next update will bring heists, but we're still left holding our controllers in our hands, waiting patiently (or not, as is the case with many). The impending next-gen remastered release of the game should boost interest, though if the heists aren't ready by then (in the fall), it will be a huge mistake on Rockstar's part.
