10 Video Games That Were Great At First (But We Quickly Lost Interest)
9. The Latest Street Fighter Title
Competition is one of the reasons that video games are so successful, and nothing inspires that competitive nature in us more than a fighting game. Of course, the most successful fighting series is Street Fighter; an Arcade classic which is now over twenty-five years old. Impressive. Equally as impressive though is how Capcom have managed to turn the series into a major cash cow with very few updates or changes. Take Street Fighter IV for example, the latest instalment in the franchise. Capcom are currently preparing the fourth version of the title, with each different edition adding more characters and various gameplay balances. The fact tStreet Fighter IV was released in 2008 and is still being improved is impressive; without the fighting game community, it probably wouldn't happen. Let's be honest though, all these updates and 'Ultra' editions are for that core community the added bells and whistles gives them hundreds of hours' worth of content to learn and play with. But for the average gamer, the lifespan of a new Street Fighter title is considerably shorter. You'll pick up the new edition (it'll be priced pretty reasonably, at least until you the price of every version you've brought together), go through the Arcade Mode a couple of times with your favourite characters (Ryu and Ken, let's face it) and then you'll venture online. You'll suffer a perfect loss to some randomer from Korea and you'll swear never to touch the series again, aghast at the level you'll have to reach to even land a punch. Then the next update will be announced and you'll be suckered in all over again it's a cycle and you're a part of it now. Sorry.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
