10 Video Games That Were Great At First (But We Quickly Lost Interest)

5. Any American Sports Game

American football, baseball, basketball... you've no doubt tried to become interested in at least one of these sports in the past. Watching on TV can be great fun, but they say there's no better way to learn a sport than to play it. Of course, nobody goes outside anymore, so we turn to virtual sports in order to help us enjoy the same pastimes as our American friends. Basketball is a great example of this; you've no doubt seen LeBron do his thing on the court and felt you could replicate that (well, in video games anyway). As the premier basketball video game, 2K's NBA series would be your go-to game but you'll quickly realise you're actually no good at it. Any attempt to take the ball off the opponent will result in a 'reach-in foul' and you'll watch in horror as they score slam dunks like they're going out of style. Playing Madden will see you run offside constantly while wondering what the hell a 'QB Read' is, before your computer opponent scores an 80 yard touchdown because you were setup in a Field Goal Block formation. We're not even going to discuss the complexities of the sport of baseball €“ it could take years. So your brand new American sports game will be banished to the shelf in frustration. That's what you get for trying to broaden your horizons €“ it seemed like such a great idea at the time.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
