10 Video Games It's Cool To Hate
7. Minecraft
It’s strange to think that Minecraft has been doing the rounds for over a decade now. There’s something about the game that tends to resonate with players of all ages and experience levels. The key concept is as pure and simple as it gets: hop into an untouched clean slate of a fantasy world that’s as blocky and angular as Lara Croft’s breasts in the nineties and build. Just build.
There are separate modes, survival elements and such on top of that, but this is really what it all boils down to. You can be as bold and ambitious with your designs as you like. Cliché as it may be, your imagination is the only limit, which explains why people are still playing all these years later (and a movie is even on the way, inexplicably).
What’s the issue with Minecraft, then? Well, again, it’s the curse of popularity. This is a fickle business, and some will tell you that Minecraft is ‘over’ or ‘dying’ now. It’s old news. Should this be of concern to fans? Probably not.
