10 Video Games Netflix Could Adapt After The Witcher
8. Splinter Cell
A Splinter Cell movie with Tom Hardy as Sam Fisher was announced in 2012.
Seven years ago.
This means the movie has been gestating in development hell for the better part of a decade and it appears no closer to actually happening than ever before.
Truth be told, that's probably not a bad thing either. Back in 2017 the attached producer, Basil Iwanyk, stated that Splinter Cell would depend on the final success of the Assassin's Creed movie, which was not good at all. That isn't uncommon, but then Iwanyk went on to say Splinter Cell was a first-person shooter with no real story, so we're thinking it's a good thing that movie never entered production.
Well, Netflix and Ubisoft announced at this year's E3 that the previously-announced movie based on The Division was entering production with Netflix. That's good news all around because it means there's nothing riding on the financial success of the movie and the crew have much more creative freedom.
And so, that gives us hope that Splinter Cell will be next in line. A fun spy movie starring Tom Hardy could yet come to fruition, we just hope it isn't like the one previously mentioned.
