10 Video Games NO ONE Can Agree On
3. Final Fantasy XVI

The Final Fantasy franchise is no stranger to splitting its fanbase straight down the middle - Final Fantasy VIII, XII, and XIII were all massively divisive, and most recently XVI did it all over again.
Square Enix clearly designed Final Fantasy XVI to appeal to a wider general audience outside of the RPG-loving die-hards - with its Game of Thrones-inspired story, simplified RPG mechanics, Devil May Cry-inspired action, and significantly lowered difficulty level.
And for precisely all these reasons, a lot of Final Fantasy fans hated it, for straying too far from what made them fall in love with the series in the first place.
The RPG elements of yore were nearly eradicated, the combat was shallow, and the lack of pushback made it an experience most fans could sleepwalk their way through. Others found the obvious attempts to imitate Game of Thrones cynical, and its more "mature" story unconvincing.
Somewhat ironically, despite Square Enix's effort to broaden the series' appeal, Final Fantasy XVI underperformed commercially, demonstrating what so often happens when a franchise leaves its most loyal fans swinging in the wind.
Needless to say, Final Fantasy XVII will most likely return to a more conventional RPG format.
