10 Video Games Ruined By Absolutely Terrible Controls

7. The Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

Super Mario Sunshine
Nintendo

The Legend Of Zelda is one of those series that doesn't need unique or flashy controls. In fact, deviating from the controls established by Ocarina Of Time on the Nintendo 64 is rarely met with universal praise (the only thing that comes to memory is using the gyro for aiming) - and that's a game that came out almost twenty years ago.

Which makes it baffling, then, that Nintendo decided The Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass needed a control overhaul. The reality is that Nintendo just wanted to use the DS's touch screen, even if it meant changing things for the worse.

In Phantom Hourglass, you don't control Link using the thumb stick. Rather, you drag him around the map using your stylus, drawing shapes to swipe his sword and to make him do simple actions like rolling.

Gone is the precision of previous entries, replaced with a frustrating gimmick that hampers one of the best-looking handheld Zelda entries in the series.
