10 Video Games Ruined By Absolutely Terrible Controls

6. Metroid Prime Hunters

Super Mario Sunshine
Nintendo

Metroid Prime Hunters was one of the first games available for the Nintendo DS, and a demo version of the game was bundled with every console at launch. In that way, it was clearly intended to show off the capabilities of the system. Booting up the Metroid Prime Hunters demo was legitimately exciting.

A Metroid Prime game... on a handheld system! Who wouldn't have been stoked?

Sadly, for as impressive as the graphics were back then, the game was absolutely hamstrung by its controls. In order to play properly you had to hold the entire DS system in your left hand, using the D-Pad to move while using your right hand to hold the stylus and drag it around the bottom screen for aiming.

Hell, even trying to explain the control scheme through words is clunky and awkward. When you did strike the perfect balance it felt great, but these moments lasted for all of five minutes before your hands seized up and you had to set the system on a flat surface. It just wasn't a fun experience.
