3. Just Cause 2
Another modern game that should have known better, Just Cause 2 provides plenty of examples of how not to do voice acting in gaming. Offering relatively enjoyable game mechanics - comparable to franchises like 'Grand Theft Auto' - and a large island to claim as your own, Just Cause 2 was fairly well-received by gamers. Its most obvious weak point was its voice acting, with the protagonist - 'Scorpio' - sounding almost like a wannabe 'Scarface', trying way too hard to come across as the tough guy. The supporting cast was not much better either, if anything they made Scorpio sound good. The residents of the island had questionable accents and the dialogue seemed unnatural, spoken disjointedly at times. Each voice seemed as poorly performed as the next, making the characters feel generic, unbelievable and forgettable. Had the game gone a little easier on the dialogue, it may have been more forgivable, though the frequent cut scenes made it hard to ignore.
