2. Resident Evil
Though the first Resident Evil game is indeed old and was - of course - made at a time when the franchise was first establishing itself, newer fans that go back to play the series' origins are bound to be disappointed by the quality of the voice acting. Whilst even the more modern Resident Evil games are lacking when it comes to good, solid voice acting, they are far superior to the original's comical voices. As a horror game, the player needs to be totally immersed within the atmosphere, however as soon as 'Jill' and 'Chris' - the main characters - begin talking, the atmosphere is far less unsettling. Chris sounds almost sarcastic throughout the game, usually at times when he should not be and Jill is - as with many older games - a little melodramatic. There are plenty of hilarious lines during the game thanks to the voice acting, so at least it offers some entertainment value, just not necessarily in the way it was supposed to.
